Portuguese students develop hologram that makes receptionist

A hologram that makes rececionista: this is the new initiative of a group of students from the University of Algarve and a creative studio in Loulé. The project already has three-dimensional face, body and voice.

A hologram of a person-sized interacting with the public is the new creation of the University of Algarve (UAlg) and a creative solutions company, who conceived the project consortium in the past two years.

The University of Algarve and the SPIC Creative Solutions have created a technology that allows holographic projection of the human figure in full size, with the possibility of interaction with the public.

The project involves the projection of a video in high definition, which allows viewing a hologram of a real human character in a live setting or within an enclosed structure.

The character will have the receptionist function or public relations company or an event and can dynamically interact in user-requested information functions, serving as a mentor guide and useful information source.

Use a holographic projection of a person in full size, as a receptionist or public relations. This is the new goal of "research consortium " developed between Universidadde the Algarve (UAlg) and the company SPIC - Creative Solutions, presented yesterday.

The image in 3D, you can interact with people by providing information that may be requested. "The product can be fitted with volumetric sensors for detecting the movement of users and Internet connection."

A hologram as a receptionist? There is a Portuguese proposal on the way

The ability to be where we are after all not attract us long and attempts to put into practice the desire arise. One of the latest was developed in Portugal and proposes a holographic projection of a human figure, life-size, able to interact with the public.

The technology was developed as a result of a partnership between the University of Algarve and the SPIC Creative, established two years ago, and now is "completed and ready for sale".

The PR Holo, solution name, is the projection of a video in high definition, which allows viewing a hologram of a real human character in a live setting or within an enclosed structure. The technology has also been developed to 360 degrees, allowing users to visualize the character from any angle.

True, it's real, and is in Portugal. It is a new technology and was developed in our country, by the Algarve University and SPIC Creative in partnership.

Called PR Holo and consists of holographic projection, high definition, of a human being, live, in color and in full size. This virtual reality technology is presented to 360 degrees, which allows you to see the character through any angle. The best part is that interacts with the public by providing information and serving as a guide.

It is a new technology whose potential is still early. For now, the SPIC bet on the hologram (3D projection) of a friendly virtual rececionista, designed for parties, brand launches and other events that require a touch of spectacle. In the future, you can give shape to a dinosaur on a big stage.

It sounds like science fiction, but is the result of two years and four months of joint research between SPIC, innovator in the area of design and new media, and the University of Algarve. There are already interested customers inside and outside the country.

The passage between the knowledge that is developed in the universities and the real world of business is not always linear, until the economy. In this case, it was a two-way process, explains the "windward" Paul Bica, 39, CEO of SPIC, a company based in Loulé.

The University of Algarve (UAlg), in partnership with local companies, it is stated as a national hub of technological development.

In a past, not far away, speak in a use of holograms was something that the company related to the science fiction cinema. But today, the technological development allowed the use of holograms is a communication tool, leading the market to interest in the use of holography method, theorized in 1948 by the Hungarian-British electrician Dennis Gabor engineer, Nobel Prize for Physics in 1971.
